Another year draws to a close

As this year winds-down and we begin to look forward to greeting the holiday travelers in earnest, we can’t help but look back on this year’s season and events to reflect on another wonderful year in St Augustine. The Inn on Charlotte has been through a lot in the past year, but we look forward to next year, and the challenges it will present, even more.

2012 was the year we saw our dear Rae Ann move on to a new career and we welcomed Sister Ann as Charlotte’s newest Inn Keeper. Both moves were, at first, a little shaky for all of us. After all, we had worked like a well-oiled machine for such a long time… But we have learned that change it good, and our Ann has done a great job. This is confirmed by guests who have told us that they approve of her and the change. And at the Inn on Charlotte, guests have the final word. We added wardrobes to some rooms, and add iPhone/iPad charging stations/Sleep machines to all rooms. We even removed the 4-poster bed that was blocking view of the TV in Diamond Lil’. The last thing on our list of ‘to-do’s is recovering the front porch wicker set which is going out to get done this week!

In the New Year at the Inn on Charlotte we look forward to sharing what we know with our Ginny-bug. For those who don’t know, Ginny has taken her Food Manager’s license and made us so proud, she scored a 95%! – Well done Miss. Ginny. And as we transfer duties and responsibilities to her, we know that she will enjoy learning to be an Inn Keeper as much as the rest of us have. It’s a varied and complex job that prepares us all for life and careers.
Also in the New Year we look forward to the next step in St Augustine’s 450th celebration, which will be the 500th anniversary of Juan de Ponce de Leon’s discovering of Florida back in 1513 and all the events that come with such a big deal. And as also, we hope to improve a few things in each bedroom and other places around the Inn. So keep the suggestions coming!

But whatever we do to the Inn on Charlotte, we will strive to keep her your cozy home-away-from-home with the best customer service making it the obvious choice when visiting Florida’s Historic Coast.
