Best Burger in St Augustine

Gas: Great place to fill-up with fresh local food

We finally got out, across the bridge, to Gas – Full Service, and it was the tune-up our taste buds needed. This 2 year old restaurant is known for its Burgers, but this husband & wife owned and operated joint, has so much more to offer.  The offerings at Gas include complementary deviled eggs, fried green tomatoes and bright and delicious soup; along with many other choices.

The facility reminded us of the great places in Decatur, GA (where we use to live): Bright, vibrant, happening-feel, where all the coolest folks go for a great meal.  The d├ęcor is themed and campy, with gas, pump handles on the doors, posters and art with the gestation motif. The dining room is clean, the people are attentive, and the food – well, it was the reason we went there.

I had the Black & Blue Bacon burger, while Rod had the soup & salad. Crisp salad with good dressing, tomato basil soup tasted amazing and was brighter with the fresh basil. The burger was fantastic, juicy & tasty, and came with home-made potato chips. Yum! Gas has a great selection of micro-beer and reasonable wine selection as well.

With Fall’s great weather right around the corner, we recommend the short walk across the bridge to Gas full service restaurant, and the great food they have to offer. And they are building a deck; just another reason to stop and enjoy the island breezes.
